The cruise season is getting into full swing for Carnival’s latest vessel, the Carnival Horizon. To commemorate this unveiling, singer and Grammy award winner Queen Latifah will be on hand when the ship is given its official name. The gala event will take place onboard the cruise vessel in New York City on May 23, 2018.

Queen Latifah is noted as being the first hip-hop entertainer to receive a star on Hollywood’s illustrious Walk of Fame. The May 23rd event will also commemorate St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with the presentation of a check. Customized artwork that will be featured on the ship’s large LED sculpture, Dreamscape, will be introduced at that time. The display is located in the middle of the ship’s atrium.
After the gala celebration, the Carnival Horizon will embark on its summer itinerary from New York, which runs until late September. Afterwards, the cruise ship will feature year-round Caribbean cruises from Miami.
As the latest cruise ship in the Carnival line, the Carnival Horizon will provide such featured restaurants as Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse/Brewhouse. The eatery is the creation of chef Guy Fieri of the Food Network. Accommodations will also be featured on the ship that include Cloud 9 Spa privileges and exclusive access to a Cuban-inspired pool and bar.
