According to a recent news report Cunard has announced that a Queen Victoria refit is being planned for this May. The $54 million upgrade will lead to the dry-docking of the historic vessel in Palermo, Italy on May 5, 2017.
Throughout the month of May, the ship will undergo a makeover that will feature the addition of 43 new Britannia Club staterooms, each with dedicated dining. A redesign of the ship’s deck 8 aft Penthouse Suites, Grand Suites, and Chart Room bar is also on the agenda.
While the retro décor will remain the same, the new enhancements will underscore improved entertainment options and an increased level of luxury and comfort. For example, the newly-added Penthouse Suites will feature a new color scheme, inspired by the signature hues of Cunard – colors that capture geometric patterns and jewel tones of deep red.
The Grand Suites that are being upgraded as part of the Queen Victoria refit will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a separate cozy room with a TV. The bedroom TV will fold down from the ceiling while a walk-in wardrobe will offer extra storage space. A dual-aspect balcony will be included among the featured amenities.
The new Chart Room pub will be situated on deck 2 of the ship, off the Grand Lobby, where the Café Carinthia is also located. The bar will feature coffee, Godiva chocolates, and light bites throughout the day. Stellar cocktails will be featured during the evening service.
