Crystal has unveiled key milestones in the creation of its first new vessel in a quarter century — a moment marking a new chapter in the brand’s celebrated history. The new Crystal ship, slated for delivery in May 2028, will be built by Fincantieri under the ownership of the Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group. The steel cutting is set for May 2026, followed by the keel laying that December — symbolic steps that carry forward Crystal’s legacy of craftsmanship, design, and innovation.
Behind the scenes, engineers, architects, and artisans have been working intensively to realize a vessel that redefines luxury at sea. The company views the project not merely as a shipbuilding effort but as a statement of intent — blending meticulous detail with the brand’s renewed vision for contemporary cruising. The ship’s name and itineraries will be revealed later this year, with inaugural voyages scheduled to go on sale next spring.
Perfection at Sea: USPH Inspection Success

Crystal’s pursuit of excellence has already found tangible proof. The Crystal Serenity achieved a perfect 100 score during its recent United States Public Health inspection in Boston, confirming the ship’s outstanding commitment to hygiene, safety, and operational standards. The evaluation by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention covers all 44 points of the Vessel Sanitation Program, including food handling, water quality, and galley conditions.
This recognition comes shortly after the ship’s triumphant return to North America following a Mediterranean summer season. The flawless result reflects the continuous dedication of onboard officers and crew who maintain the highest service benchmarks day after day. Their performance upholds Crystal’s promise that health, safety, and comfort remain integral to the brand’s reimagined identity.
Refitted in 2023, Crystal Serenity accommodates 740 guests in newly designed suites and offers a culinary collection found nowhere else at sea. Guests enjoy the famed Umi Uma by Nobu Matsuhisa, Beefbar, and Osteria d’Ovidio by the Michelin-starred Alajmo brothers. The ship’s refined ambiance is enhanced by the exclusive Casino de Monte-Carlo, forming part of Crystal’s expanding collaboration with iconic global partners. Currently sailing through New England and Canada, the ship will soon reposition to Fort Lauderdale for the Caribbean season, culminating with the 35th Anniversary voyage this October.
A Vision Reinforced by Heritage
For more than 30 years, Crystal has been recognized as a standard-bearer in luxury cruising. Since its acquisition by A&K Travel Group in 2022, the company has fused its seafaring heritage with Abercrombie & Kent’s land-based expertise to deliver experiences that go far beyond the ordinary. Both Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony now feature expanded suites, near-one-to-one crew-to-guest ratios, and the first Casino de Monte-Carlo at Sea.
At the heart of the brand’s revival lies a simple promise: to remain exceptional at sea. With the construction of the new Crystal ship underway and fleet standards reaching unprecedented heights, Crystal is reaffirming its place as one of the world’s most refined, forward-thinking cruise lines — where innovation meets timeless elegance on every voyage.
