Great Tides Waterpark Brings Excitement to Great Stirrup Cay

Norwegian Cruise Line is unveiling an extraordinary new chapter for its private Bahamian destination with the debut of Great Tides Waterpark, a sprawling aquatic adventure designed for families and thrill-seekers alike. As Great Stirrup Cay enters a new era of innovation, this nearly six-acre waterpark will stand at the heart of the island’s transformation, bringing new levels of excitement and relaxation to Caribbean cruise vacations.

Transforming the Guest Experience

With the opening of Great Tides Waterpark scheduled for summer 2026, Norwegian Cruise Line is redefining what it means to enjoy a private island getaway. The waterpark is set to become a signature attraction, featuring 19 unique waterslides that cater to every preference, from adrenaline-fueled drops to gentle spirals for those seeking a laid-back ride. At the center of it all, the imposing 170-foot Tidal Tower will captivate visitors with eight spectacular slides, including the tower’s two tallest, offering thrilling climbs and unforgettable descents on inner tubes. Several slides will also feature convenient conveyor belts, making it easier for guests to reach the top and enjoy the experience over and over again.

The centerpiece of Great Tides Waterpark is more than just its slides. Families can look forward to Cliffside Cove, an area that combines adventure with inclusivity, featuring racer slides and the Caribbean’s only family slide, where four people can race side by side. Unique cliff jumps, at 10 and 15 feet, introduce a cruise industry first, challenging the daring to leap into crystal-clear waters. For those who prefer to watch rather than participate, The Grotto Bar tucked beneath the family slide offers a hidden retreat to enjoy a drink while soaking in the action.

Adventures for Every Generation

Great Tides Waterpark isn’t just about high-speed thrills. At its core is a 9,000-square-foot kids splash zone, designed as a wonderland for younger travelers. Here, a colossal tipping bucket towers over interactive water features and eight mini slides, offering endless fun for children of all ages. For families, easy access cabanas are strategically placed at the edge of the splash zone and dynamic river, providing the perfect base to relax while the kids play.

The dynamic river, stretching nearly 800 feet, invites guests to drift along its current, which is faster and more exhilarating than a traditional lazy river. Entry points are thoughtfully designed, including a wading pool with a nearby swim-up bar, ensuring refreshments are always close at hand. An illuminated grotto tunnel, aglow with a bioluminescent scene, adds an immersive, dreamlike dimension to the journey along the water. All of these features blend seamlessly to make Great Tides Waterpark a hub of non-stop fun and relaxation for visitors of every age.

Expanding the Island’s Possibilities

The enhancements at Great Stirrup Cay extend far beyond Great Tides Waterpark. Norwegian Cruise Line has invested in a host of new experiences that cater to all types of travelers. One of the most anticipated additions is the jet karts aquatic racecourse, which fuses elements of go-karting and jet skiing into a must-try adventure for thrill-seekers. Meanwhile, the brand-new heated pool area, Great Life Lagoon, offers an expansive 1.4-acre retreat with private cabanas, complimentary loungers, and two lively swim-up bars, each with its own distinctive atmosphere.

Nearby, Splash Harbor provides a 3,400-square-foot complimentary splash pad, perfect for families who want to cool off, while parents can unwind in the shaded lounge. The recently completed welcome plaza, multi-ship pier, and island-wide tram service are set to make getting around Great Stirrup Cay more convenient than ever before.

For those who enjoy games and activities, Horizon Park brings together lawn sports, pickleball courts, a mini-golf course, and more, ensuring there’s always something to do onshore. Hammock Bay, with more than 50 hammocks, invites guests to relax in the ocean breeze, and is ideally located near a BBQ buffet. For an exclusive retreat, the Vibe Shore Club adults-only area features hanging day beds, premium lounge seating, and private villas, offering a sophisticated atmosphere and luxurious amenities for those seeking tranquility.

“Escape to the Great Life” – Bringing the Island to the World

To celebrate the opening of Great Tides Waterpark and the enhanced island experience at Great Stirrup Cay, Norwegian Cruise Line is launching a major promotional campaign. From July 29 to 31, 2025, New York City’s SoHo district will be transformed with immersive pop-up activations, inviting visitors to “Escape to the Great Life”. Guests will experience the sights and sounds of Great Stirrup Cay, participate in live music events, and have the opportunity to enter a nationwide sweepstakes, where 250 lucky winners will receive a cruise to experience the revitalized private island firsthand.

This campaign will also travel to Miami, where escape hatches will be hidden throughout the city, further expanding the reach and excitement of the upcoming Great Tides Waterpark debut. Residents and travelers in both cities are encouraged to seek out these unique activations and join in the fun, as Norwegian Cruise Line brings the spirit of the Bahamas to urban centers ahead of the grand opening.

Welcoming the World to Great Stirrup Cay

With growing demand for Caribbean and Bahamas sailings, Norwegian Cruise Line is preparing to welcome over one million guests to Great Stirrup Cay in 2026 alone. Fifteen ships in the fleet, including the new Norwegian Aqua and Norwegian Luna, will offer itineraries featuring this private paradise. These voyages include a variety of seven-day Caribbean cruises departing from Miami and Orlando, with visits to stunning destinations such as the Dominican Republic, U.S. Virgin Islands, and British Virgin Islands.

The addition of Great Tides Waterpark is the latest step in Norwegian Cruise Line’s ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional experiences both onboard and ashore. Each enhancement at Great Stirrup Cay, from heated pools to premium lounging areas, is crafted to bring more of what guests love to the island setting. As Norwegian Cruise Line continues to innovate, Great Tides Waterpark stands as a testament to the brand’s dedication to creating unforgettable memories for guests of all ages.

Looking Forward

The introduction of Great Tides Waterpark is more than an attraction; it represents a renewed vision for private island experiences in the cruise industry. Whether plunging down a towering slide, floating along the dynamic river, or simply relaxing in a hammock, guests will find new ways to enjoy “the great life” at Great Stirrup Cay. Norwegian Cruise Line’s commitment to elevating every aspect of the guest journey ensures that the island will remain a highlight for travelers for years to come.

With its array of thrilling slides, family-friendly attractions, and luxurious spaces, Great Tides Waterpark promises to set a new standard for private island fun. Norwegian Cruise Line invites travelers from around the world to experience these groundbreaking adventures and discover the many ways to make lasting memories at Great Stirrup Cay.
