Noted as one of the world’s most famous sailing vessels, the Queen Mary 2 will soon be refitted, starting with the transformation of the Winter Garden restaurant into the Carinthia Lounge. The lounge, which is designed to take cruise-goers to another place and time, will feature vertical Art Deco screens and a dance floor made of dark walnut wood. The name for the new lounge originates from the name of a line of cruise vessels in the Cunard Line.
The new refit, which will begin on May 27, 2016, will continue until one of the flagship’s scheduled voyages on June 21, 2016. According to the cruise line, the Carinthia Lounge will be decorated in relaxing tones of cream and gold, meant to accent the primary powder blue color of the sophisticated wine bar and restaurant. One of the primary features of the establishment will be its spectacular wine wall.
The lounge is designed to honor cruise travel from the 1920s, adding to the unique amenities of the QM2. Guests can further add to the “time travel” experience by signing up for Cunard’s eastbound transatlantic journey in July 2016. Further travel information about the QM2’s 2016 itineraries is now available on the Cunard Line website.
