A Refreshed Brand For Isla Tropicale
Isla Tropicale, Carnival Cruise Line’s exclusive destination in Roatán, Honduras, has unveiled a new logo alongside a sweeping aquatic expansion called Mangrove Bay. Spanning 48,000 square feet of recreational space, the new pool area sits at the heart of the destination and features a dedicated splash pad for younger guests, a swim-up bar, and adjacent bar service. A peninsula lined with private cabanas and sun loungers offers a premium retreat for those seeking elevated comfort, while poolside daybeds provide an additional way to unwind under the Caribbean sky.
Elevating The Guest Experience

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, described Isla Tropicale as another significant milestone for the Paradise Collection — the cruise line’s expanding portfolio of exclusive destinations, which now represents the largest such group in the industry. She noted that additions like the destination’s first-ever pool area would meaningfully raise the standard of the guest experience on shore, and reaffirmed Carnival’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Roatán and Honduras while continuing to generate measurable economic benefit for local communities across the region.
Fifteen Years Of Investment And Impact
Originally opened in 2009 under the name Mahogany Bay, the destination now known as Isla Tropicale has grown into a substantial leisure hub hosting two deep-water berths capable of welcoming Carnival’s Excel- and Vista-class ships, along with 52 retail shops, local artisan kiosks, three restaurants, four bars, a scenic chairlift, and oceanview cabanas. Over the course of its history, the site has represented a $93 million investment in Roatán, received close to nine million visitors, and contributed an estimated $750 million in economic impact while supporting more than 1,300 local jobs. Its beach has also earned the prestigious Honduras Blue Flag Award alongside a five-star environmental rating in both 2024 and 2025, recognising outstanding standards in water quality, safety, and sustainable tourism management.
A Regional Partnership Built On Tourism

Honduras’s minister of tourism, Andrés Ehrler, underscored the destination’s broader significance for both Roatán and the country as a whole, noting that Carnival’s sustained investment has strengthened the island’s standing as one of the Caribbean’s most welcoming ports of call. He highlighted the value of partnerships that support local employment, nurture small business growth, and enhance the region’s appeal to international travellers. With the launch of Mangrove Bay, Isla Tropicale continues to affirm its role as a cornerstone of responsible and community-driven cruise tourism in Central America.
