According to recent news out of Miami, Carnival Corporation has just announced that it plans to build a new Cunard ship. The ship, which will be the fourth vessel included the Cunard fleet, is planned to be released for service in 2022. Carnival stated that the addition of the ship will help the company increase its brand influence and will assist it in meeting its goals for future growth.
The new Cunard ship will be designed and built by Fincantieri S.p.A., which is a highly recognized Italian shipbuilder. The project, which will begin in Monfalcone, Italy, will make it possible for Cunard to place four ships in service at the same time. The cruise vessel, which has not yet been given a name, will join Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Victoria in the current Cunard fleet.
More details about the new Cunard ship will be provided beginning in 2018. The vessel will be the 249th ship to fly the Cunard banner since the company was established in 1839. Because of the new contract, Carnival Corporation is slating 18 new cruise ships for delivery between 2018 and 2022.
As noted, the addition of the new ship will make it possible for Cunard to underscore its brand. Part of these efforts have gone toward refurbishment. The line has invested over $170 million over the past two years to upgrade the Queen Victoria and the flagship vessel, Queen Mary 2.
Moreover, Cunard continues to surpass guest expectations by offering new destinations, dining venues, and celebratory events. Carnival Corporation itself is known as the largest leisure travel operator in the world. The company currently hosts ten brands – brands that include nine of the major cruise lines. All in all, these brands oversee 103 ships that visit over 700 ports internationally.
