According to a news report out of Santa Clarita, California, Princess Cruises announced that the Caribbean Princess will undergo an extensive renovation in Freeport Bahamas from March 26 to April 26, 2017.
The vessel will emerge from the multi-million dollar renovation with a variety of exciting family offerings including Camp Discovery and a revamped Movies under the Stars. The Caribbean Princess refurbishment is planned to take place just in time for European summer cruise travel and Caribbean fall itineraries in 2017.
The cruise ship will also be upgraded for interconnectivity with the launch of the Ocean Medallion. This special feature will be available during the Caribbean summer season starting in 2018. For young cruise guests ages 3 to 17, the Caribbean Princess refurbishment will offer Camp Discovery. This new enhancement will include such amenities as the Treehouse (for ages three to seven years old), the Lodge (designed for 8 to 12-year-olds), and the Beach House (specifically designed for young people 13 to 17 years of age).
Therefore, the Caribbean Princess refurbishment promises plenty of fun for families who have children in the above age ranges. For example, the Treehouse is a bright and whimsical type forest- and animal-themed center that includes hands-on activities and interesting creatures for children’s playtime. The Lodge, which is inspired by the Great Outdoors, is a cozy and friendly center that features fun places for kids to lounge, hang out, and explore. Finally, the Beach House offers modern surf-themed sounds as well as a cool area for young people to socialize.
In addition, the Caribbean Princess upgrade will include, as noted, a new HD Movies under the Stars. The outdoor movie screen will highlight a higher resolution picture with twice the image quality of prior systems. Guests can enjoy lively concerts and watch blockbuster flicks with more audio power, truer hues, and extreme wide angle viewing any time during the day.
